Internet users around the world may experience network connection failures in the next 48 hours.
The Internet Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will conduct maintenance work during this time period by changing the cryptographic key that helps to protect the Internet address book or the DNS (Domain Name System).
This was necessary to address the increasing incidents of attacks in cyberspace, said ICANN.
For further clarification, some Internet users may be concerned if network operators or Internet service providers (ISP) have not prepared this change. However, this impact can be avoided by activating the appropriate system security extensions
According to ICANN, only 1% of total Internet users worldwide will be affected by the closure. This will still amounted to more than 36 million people worldwide.
This closure does not mean that the entire Internet will not be available. Difficulty you will have access to some websites or to make any transactions for the next 48 hours.
